Thanks to everyone
who submitted an
entry
to the songwriting
contest. I've enjoyed
listening to every
song - as soon as
I received
a CD at my PO Box,
I'd pop it in my
truck's
CD player and cruise
around (I'm such
a redneck!)
Then, out of the
blue, I received
a song
that blew me away.
I couldn't believe
how
good it is.
This song is nearly
perfect. Catchy melody.
Strong lyrics. Great
vocal. Excellent
production.
Modern yet accessible.
"Our God Reigns"
by Tim Light is
the hands-down winner.
Tim is from the little
town of Romsey, UK,
about an hour and
a half from London.
He's
one of the worship
leaders at New Life
Church,
along with Phil Le
Cheminant (producer
of
"Our God Reigns"
and a talented
songwriter in his
own right.)
I had the pleasure
of speaking with
Tim and
Phil over the international
phone wires,
and enjoyed hearing
about the worship
scene
in England. They've
both attended The
Worship
School at Brighton's
Church of Christ
the
King. This school
has involved such
notables
as Paul Oakley, Stuart
Townend and Matt
Redman.
The church runs the
school to train worship
leaders, song writers
and musicians such
skills as how to
lead worship, how
to write
worship songs, how
to run a worship
band
and other related
subjects. I'd like
to know
more about the curriculum,
because Tim and
Phil are turning
out incredible material
for independent writers.
I'm shocked they
haven't been picked
up by
a major label! I'm
also very happy they
haven't
been picked up by
a major, because
now we
all can enjoy "Our
God Reigns!"
If you enjoy the
Passion music (Matt
Redman,
Chris Tomlin, etc.)
you'll love "Our
God Reigns."
